WISPAU Responds to IPART

WISPAU Supports Appropriate Rent Scheme for Local Wireless Service Providers

Broadband Internet providers like WISPAU members often target narrow segments of the market and as such the willingness to proceed with a service to provide a community benefit to those in an area may or may not proceed at all due to rental costs.

It is important for IPART and local councils to understand the important benefits that WISP’s bring to areas that may be under-serviced by larger national carriers, and may also not have the same financial return in trying to service areas with a lower dwelling density.

As such a rental pricing scheme that understands the challenges faced with WISP’s providing coverage and support in areas needs to be reflected in rental discussions and schemes.
