Remote WISPAU Tower

The ACMA has published a new guide for WISP operators to apply for frequency allocation under an Area Wide License (AWL) format on their website.

You can view the details here.

Applying for an area-wide licence (AWL) in the 3.8 GHz band

You can lodge an application for a 3.8 GHz band AWL in accordance with Step 1 below. ACMA are processing applications in 2 stages:

  • Stage 1: Application window – The application window opens at 10 am (AEDT) on Thursday 28 March 2024. The application window closes at 2 pm (AEST) on Thursday 2 May 2024.
  • Stage 2: General applications accepted, with licences processed in the order the applications were received. That is, on a ‘first-in-time’ basis.

You can find more information on the application process in the applicant information pack (AIP) here.

The AIP is a guide for those applying for an AWL.

The AIP has details of the allocation processes for AWLs in the 3.8 GHz band. It is important for WISP’s to read this information before making an application.

How to lodge an application

You can lodge an application via the ACMA portal once the application window opens on 28 March 2024.

If you have any questions, please contact info@acma.gov.au.
